Pray for this family!

Please be in prayer for The Wims. I don't know them personally, but found their blog through all of the site hopping I tend to do. I've been following their lives and praying for them ever since I found the blog awhile back. Sadly, this week they had to say goodbye to their husband/daddy/son/friend. It just absolutely breaks my heart, but their faithfulness through the whole ordeal has been incredibly inspiring. They have blessed me and I hope that by reading their blog, you will be blessed as well.

Well that's a fine how do you do..

Today is the big day! We officially put our house on the market today! We stuck the sign in our lawn last night with high hopes and extravagant dreams. We are ready to move to a new phase in life that hopefully brings us closer to our friends!

Then, I looked on Realtor.com this morning.

I was checking to see if ours was listed yet (it should be by COB today) and lo-and-behold... I see that our stinkin' neighbor listed theirs too. How blasted annoying is that?!?! Theirs is about 200 square feet bigger than ours but is over $10K more so hopefully that will work in our favor. I'm just really annoyed today! We haven't had any houses for sale in our 'hood in awhile and BAM as soon as we decide to sell, so do they! Hopefully we'll blow them out of the water

In the meantime, pray that our house will sell if that is what God wants us to do! I'm super nervous about the whole thing and just want to make sure we're doing the right thing!

And completely unrelated: I swear, I am about to buy one of those baby gates to put in front of my desk to keep people away. I will never understand why people I barely know (co-workers) feel the need to come way up behind my desk, right up on me to ask me a simple question. Makes me want to punch them. PERSONAL SPACE PEOPLE!!! Stand in front of the desk... in FRONT!

An Open letter to the Cleaning Crew

Monday, March 2, 2009

Dear lady who cleans the bathroom at the office,

Thank you for everything you do! You keep our bathroom clean and tidy, and smelling like roses (Except after Miss E has been in there... but that's not your fault, so I won't hold it against you). I also love that you make sure we have plenty of toilet seat covers as well, because, as I'm sure you've noticed, some of the ladies in this office aren't capable of actually making it IN the toilet. I have no idea why, but whatever. I really like having that extra barrier present at all times! I really do appreciate your hard work and I try to tell you hello and thank you every time I see you. However, we need to have a little chat about the paper towel holder.

I truly appreciate that you strive to make sure we have enough sheets in the holder, but sometimes you stuff it so full that it's might near impossible to actually pull any paper towels out. I hate being wasteful, but there are many times I have to pull out 20 or so just to get any to come out. And that is AFTER I have ripped pieces off of several to get the thing started. Do you think this could be remedied?

I hate to complain because you really do a fabulous job at everything else! Perhaps you could just put 30 less sheets in there when you refill it? It would make our lives much easier, and much less wasteful!

Sincerely grateful,

The Admin

I QUIT!!

Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Not really. I only wish. I'm just having one of those days. My Monday has apparently been extended to Tuesday as well and quite frankly, I'm ready to start punching myself in the face.

I really don't mind my job most of the time. Sure, it's far from ideal, but it pays the bills and, for the most part, it's easy. I have great benefits, lots of flexibility, ample time to blog, and let's not forget all the "inspiration" for my Notes posts.

The one major headache I have is arranging travel and expense reports. Now, before the re-org, back when my original boss was here, I didn't mind it at all. She was very easy to take care of. She told me what she needed, gave me all her documentation, and rarely caused any problems. Even when there was a minor blip, it was practically effortless to take care of.

Then the re-org happened.

I am now sort of supporting-but-not-really someone new. (It's complicated...she's not my boss or anything close to it.) She's very nice and all, but arranging her travel is a nightmare and handling her expense reports is... well... about the equivalent of having your fingernails slowly pulled off, one by one. Not that I would know because thankfully, all of my fingernails are still intact. But it sounds pretty darn bad.

She doesn't give me all of her receipts, doesn't tell me about cash expenses, and changes her flights without telling me. I can't expense all the costs associated with that unless I know she did it! Last time I checked, mind reading was not one of my superhuman powers.

And let's not even get into asking me to schedule specific flights/times/seats/hotels less than a week before she travels. Yeah, some things are just not possible!

I dealt with this headache all day yesterday and with the arrival of one simple email, it turned into a migraine. If I could beat my head on the desk without drawing too much attention to myself, I probably would. But since I have no walls and zero privacy, that is not going to happen. Plus, I don't really want the big purple bruise that I'd get. That would incite way too many inquiries as to how I obtained said bruise and I already deal with too many ridiculous questions. That would only make me want to bang my head even more.

So instead, I have opted to blog about it. Writing has always helped me calm down and get my thoughts out. It may one day get me in trouble, but oh well. Today is not that day. At least I hope not. The day is still young..

I'm off to see if I can sort out this mess. I'm just glad it's not MY credit that's being screwed around!

Go ahead, fan the flame

Hairspray just added some more spark to the fire I already had blazing against her. Just got a call from my insurance and they said that she is not only claiming over $1K in damages to her old beater car, but they gave me the amount she is claiming for medical/pain/suffering. And it is....

Wait for it...

Waaaaiiiit for it...

Blasted $18,600!!! Yes, my comma is in the right spot there. It's completely absurd! I want to take this hair care product to court for MY pain and suffering over the last couple weeks! I probably now have an ulcer, or a busted blood vessel, or high blood pressure, or an ingrown toenail.

I'm so pissed .... furious ... LIVID. Yes livid.

Boy, I'm so glad my parents taught me a little about self-control/restraint because there are so many things I would just LOVE to say and write here, but I'm holding back. Sort of. Barely.

She's a child of God. She's a child of God. She's a child of God. Albeit stupid, she's still a child of God and I have to love her.

Good thing I haven't found any scripture saying I have to like her too...

Are we really thinking about this?!

For the last few weeks, I've spending some time perusing the online real estate guides. Just seeing what's out there. Don't get me wrong, we absolutely LOVE our area... everything about it! We love our house, we love our neighborhood, we love our little town. Absolutely adore everything about it. But, our church, work, friends, and our family is at least a 30 minute drive from us. At first it wasn't too bad for awhile but it's starting to get old. I hate being far away from everyone and I hate being left out of stuff because we're too far away. It's hard to do last minute things. *AHEM FAMILY* ;)

Plus, I just flat out miss being close to my parents. I'm a daddy's/mommy's girl. I've always liked to be close. I moved out to go to college (which was a whopping 20 minutes away) then moved back home. I didn't really leave again until Josh and I got married (minus a short few months stay in an apt...bad experience!!) The area we're looking in wouldn't be much closer to them, but it's closer to other family so that's at least a start! Plus, with traffic, it'd probably be easier to get to this area than our current spot.

I almost tear up just thinking about leaving our area, but it just doesn't make sense to stay way out here. So, I've just been looking to see what's out there. Not really seriously looking, but still looking. We've been going back and forth on whether we'd like to buy an existing home, build a new one (we built our current home) or find some land and build our own "dream home". I'm discovering that it's hard to find a good plot of land in the area we're looking though!

We weren't really seriously looking but then I found the CUTEST house online last night. After much deliberation, I think we're really starting to entertain the idea. We're going to look at the house tonight, just to check it out. If all goes well, who knows.. we might put our house up! It's scary, sad, and totally exciting all at the same time! So, pray for us! That we'll make the right decision, be smart about everything and that we'll be put in the right spot!

Whoops

Comments on our 365 blog are fixed! I have NO idea why they weren't working because everything was set to allow them. Oh well. I changed the format and now they work. Weird.

Thanks, Brenda, for letting me know! I just thought no one loved me :)

I'm having some issues with the minor accident I had back in November and I am thoroughly ticked off about it. I'll try to keep this blog post PG rated though on the inside, I'm a seething R rating right now.
I don't understand why some people are such scum-suckers. The woman is claiming over $1000 worth of damages to her car which is just a bunch of hooey because there wasn't even paint chipped off my car. She drives an old hunk-o-junk so basically she's just having ME pay for her crappy car. I was only going about 5 MPH and her car didn't even bump forward a full 12 inches. It is flat out not possible to have that kind of damage with the type of accident we had.
But, the story doesn't end there.
I got a call yesterday from my insurance adjuster saying that she has retained an attorney and is claiming injuries! WHAT THE FREAKING HECK?!? I'm sorry, but that is crap. There is NO way she sustained any injuries from that impact. She probably hurt her back carrying some stolen goods out of a home or some crap and now is blaming it on me. There is absolutely no way that I caused her any injury. No possible way! Yes, I am being judgemental, but ya know, there are just some people that you can "tell" are going to be trouble by the way they present themselves to you. The minute I talked to her and saw the mysteriously silent, big, scary man get out of their hunk-o-junk, I knew it was going to suck.
So now my insurance will go present an offer to her attorney and if he accepts it, great. If not (which my agent said is very likely because that's how these people are) they will file suit against me. The best part is, if they do the latter, I will get served which sure as HECK better not happen at work because quite frankly, the Admin does NOT need that up here right now. I have enough ridiculousness (is that a word?) to deal with here.
I'm just so angry about the whole situation. It's unfair and just wrong. It makes me furious that people can be so low. I'm sorry she drives a piece of crap, but it's not my fault and I didn't damage it! I checked out both cars at the scene and both were fine and have pictures of mine to prove it! If the accident had been any worse, I wouldn't be this upset about it, but what she's claiming isn't even remotely feasible. I guess I am naive and have too much faith in people. It makes me sad. But I'm still more mad than sad. Yep, definitely more mad.
Maybe she's just getting even for having to go through life with the same name as a hairspray... Oh yeah... for real...

He's Just Not That Into You

I'm typically not a fan of chick flicks. They bore me with their sappy dialogs, their overly emotional women (and oftentimes men), cheeseball plots, and they rarely have guns or explosions in them. That last one there is the kicker. Anyway, I ALMOST kinda sorta maybe wwouldn't mind seeing this movie just because of this video. Plus, who doesn't love the Mac Guy?! He cracks me up!
