Childhood

Wednesday, May 28, 2008

Since my brain has been eaten away by boredom and I have nothing else pertinent to write about, I'm posting an email thing I got today:

1. What was your favorite toy as a child? When I was really little, it was McBath (purple dinosaur for bathtime)... then I moved on to Barbies and My Little Ponies which were the coolest things ever, next to empty cardboard fridge boxes, of course...
2. Who was your best friend as a child? Cheramie then when she moved, it was Emily
3. What were you like as a child? Mischievous, ornery, imaginative, shy, and I was even sarcastic back then..
4. Where did you grow up? Arlington
5. What's the first pair of shoes you remember? My red Rainbow Bright hi-tops
6. When was the last time you visited the place you grew up? Last weekend.. my parents still live in our house
7. What was your favorite childhood storybook? The Monster at the End of This Book (it's a Sesame street book as told by Grover. We had a Grover puppet and Grover [my dad] would read the story to me. I loved it!!!)
8. What was the biggest trouble you got into as a child? Umm... no telling... I got in trouble a lot actually... fist fighting with Michael W, throwing a 2X4 off a tree house and hitting my brother, I was good at temper tantrums, sticking my tongue out at my mom.. ONLY ONCE. I never did that again.
9. Did you ever cut your own hair? Not that I know of
10. What is your first memory? Both of my earliest memories involve the hospital.. I guess it's true that traumatic things stick in your mind!
1) I vaguely remember getting stitches in my lip after being dropped at around 1 1/2 yrs old or so. Yes, I was dropped as a child.. does that explain anything?
2) Going to the hospital with croup.. several times
11. What were you taught about religion? I was taught about Jesus Christ and his ultimate sacrifice for me. I grew up in a Christian home with very Godly parents. I've been so blessed
12. Did you have any siblings? Yep.. younger brother and sister
13. What was your favorite game as a child? The Match game, Trouble or Guess Who were my favorites
14. What was your favorite television show as a child? Tom & Jerry and I loved Small Wonder
15. What was your worst illness as a child? Probably the croup. And I think I had scarlet fever or something equally bad like that when I was a baby. I certainly don't remember it though
16. Were you spanked as a child? Um yes. It's the only punishment that would work for me.
17. What did you fight about most with your siblings (or friends)? Anything and everything. I loved to fight over wearing the red seat belt, getting the bright yellow cup, pretty much anything.
18. Did you have a "lovey" as a child? Not really. I had a little Chinese looking doll that I carried around with me when I was really little, but I outgrew it pretty quick.
19. Favorite childhood memory? I have way too many to list... Any and all family summer vacations, walks with my dad, watching cartoons and playing barbies with dad, all the music festivals, the mud puddle on the side of the house, selling lemonade, "surfing" in the pool, beating up Michael W, Mission Arlington stuff... I have too many fond memories!!!
20. How many times did you move as a child? Zero! My folks still live in our house

A Life Lost

The youngest daughter of Steven Curtis Chapman, Maria, was killed last night in an accident. Be in prayer for the Chapman family as they deal with the flood of emotions they are undoubtedly experiencing.

Missed Opportunities

Wednesday, May 21, 2008

I missed an opportunity yesterday to share the Gospel and I'm kicking myself. I ran to the post office during lunch "real quick" yesterday to buy some 1 cent stamps so I could mail some bills since the rate just went up. "Real quick" turned into a 30+ minute wait... gotta love the United States Postal Service! Anyway, as I was standing in line, in my very uncomfortable heels, an old dude got in line behind me. He was one of those nice old men who instantly starts up a conversation. Normally, being the talkative person that I am, I would've been delighted to have someone to talk to, but today, I was not in the mood. See, I'd just spent all morning completely re-doing a project at work because SOMEONE told left out some very pertinent information. On top of that, for the last couple weeks I have been fielding random "do I have a job" questions from employees. I don't even know if I have a job, why would I know if YOU have a job? "Ask your boss" is usually my response. I was in a pretty darn foul mood.

So, we're standing there and he's just yak yak yakking away about everything from Obammamamaaomma (as he called him) and how the Democrats put us in a recession and if we elect Obammamamaooamma or Hillary, it'll just be worse. It's ok though, he is an Independent so "he's allowed to say these things". So then he goes on and on and on about China and Africa and how they can't rule themselves and never will be able to and blah blah blah. I was only half listening because I was so frustrated with the fact that there were only 2 people working the long line and one of them just went to break, leaving only one exceptionally slow lady. This only made my mood even worse. Argh.

Soon, Old Dude notices that I'm wearing pointy heels and calls them "cockroach killers". I had to laugh out loud at that because I've never heard that. He said "Yeah, you can get them suckers in the corner and kill em right off!" I thought that was hilarious and gross, but um, I will never get close enough to a cockroach to kill it. Sorry. Then he sees that I am wearing an orange sweater and tells me I need a Longhorn on the back of it. Those of you who know Josh know that even the mention of the Longhorns, much less putting a Longhorn on my shirt would be the epitome of blasphemy so I tell him exactly that and that we're an Aggie family. And for the record, it was a bright orange sweater, and not a burnt orange. I don't think Josh would ever let me own a burn orange shirt...or sweater...or even sock....(I promise this post has a point and I'm getting to it!)

Old Dude then starts talking about how he knew a guy who taught at A&M years ago.. heck, probably a century ago with as old as this dude was. He said that this guy didn't believe in Evolution and he was crazy for that. He thought it was crazy because this A&M guy had a degree in science and he still didn't believe the world came from nothing (Apparently, according to Old Dude, it has been scientifically proven. Um.. I wonder what science journals he's been reading!!) I was so frustrated that the dude wouldn't shut up by now that I was only half listening again and only responded with "ah, oh, uh, mm" the entire time. He went on and on and on (much like this blog) about it. I am kicking myself now for not speaking up about the fact that I don't believe in Evolution either and why.

Then Old Dude starts talking about science and how they (No idea who "they" is) still haven't created a human being from scratch yet, but that it's coming. He's quite impressed that they can do stuff with embryos, but is ready for them to make a human being from nothing and can't understand why they haven't yet. About this time it was finally my turn so I said goodbye and went to buy my stamps.

Looking back I am totally kicking myself for not speaking up!! I don't think we, humans, will EVER be able to create another human from scratch. That is playing God and I just don't think it will ever happen. If it does, I think it's time for Jesus to come back right then! WHY DIDN'T I JUST SAY THAT??!??! Ugh. That's what I get for being so caught up in myself and MY moment, and MY time, and MY schedule.

I'm so mad that I missed the opportunity, but I think maybe it served as a reminder to me that we should ALWAYS be on alert for opportunities to share the Gospel with people. And I'm sure there will be countless other opportunities that the Lord will bring to me. I just hate that I missed one. Hopefully, someone else will get an opportunity to share with this Old Dude and won't miss it like I did.

By the way, I got my stamps and as I fixing to affix them on my bills, I realized that the stamps I have on there already weren't $0.41 stamps... they are forever stamps, which means I didn't even need the stupid 1 cent stamps. ARGH. If anyone needs some 1 centers, I have 10. Aye.. I'm so ready for the weekend...

It ain't always the easy way

I've tried to stay away from blogging about my work because well, you never know who is going to read these things, but I feel as though it's time to solicit some outside prayer! And I know what a powerful thing prayer is. I mean, when you ask the Almighty God for something, he NEVER fails to answer. Even if it's not the answer I (we) may want, it's still an answer.

As many of you know, I am incredibly unhappy in my current work situation. I actually have quite the gravy job and I'm sure there are tons of people out there who would kill to have my position.. I mean, I get paid to blog (um, let's keep that on the DL, ok??), I get great vacation, awesome benefits, a really flexible schedule, and my boss is easy to work for, but I'm just not happy here. I need to feel like I am accomplishing something (other than racking up a super great win percentage on Spider Solitaire that is) and I just don't get that here. I probably sound crazy to a lot of people, but it is what it is.

I've been really blessed with my jobs so far. First, I wanted to work at AA and voila! I did. I got hired on as a temp, and almost immediately was hired on permanently into an HR position. I really enjoyed what I did there (sans the stupid travel), but when we moved to Saginaw, I got the job I have now because of location and let's face it, airlines just don't pay very well right now!! I was sad to leave, but at the same time, I knew it was time to go and when my department was being outsourced, it was just perfect time to start looking. It was kind of a strange situation with all the layoffs too so it was good to get away. With much prayer, God provided just the right career move for me at the perfect time.

Now, I'm in another weird situation. Without going into too many details, there are some big changes a comin' in my work group and I'm honestly not sure what's going on. I don't know if my job will stay the same, if my job will be moved to a new group, or if I will even still HAVE a job. We should know in another couple weeks... And, to top it all off, I'm not sure what I want to happen deep down. Part of me almost hopes I don't have a job so that I have an "excuse" to leave here. Don't get me wrong, I'm very grateful for my time here, but it's hard for me to really look for another job because of all I'd be giving up here. Maybe I need a kick in the pants to get moving?

I've been doing a lot of praying about it and I still just don't know what to do. I've always relied on "well, if God wants me here then I'll still have a job and if not, then I'll be out of a job" which could, in fact, be true as it was at AA. That kind of faith and trust has always been easy for me because I don't really have to make a decision. That just deals with the "worry factor", but I've been thinking that maybe it's not always that easy. Lately, I've been wondering if God wants me to take that leap of faith and leave here and just trust him. Taking the leap is the hard part. Staying in my comfy, cozy gravy job (or situation) and just waiting on the answer is easy.

So, do I stay here and wait on the answer, that I know he will provide because He is faithful, even when I am not? Or does He want me to be faithful and trust him by taking that leap out of my comfort zone and actively pursue other opportunies? The two are one in the same, yet are totally different. It's difficult for me to trust my feelings on this because I don't know if I'm having these thoughts only because I am so anxious to do something I enjoy and want to get away from here. I hope this post makes sense to those reading. I've got about a million and a half thoughts rolling around in this empty head of mine so putting them out is proving to be quite a task!

So, I'm hoping to solicit some prayer here! I really need some wisdom to know what to do. I know this may seem like quite the petty prayer request compared to some of the stuff others out there are dealing with, but I know that nothing is petty to our Savior, so I'm asking anyway.

Anyway, back to those TPS reports....

Prayers for Baby Ethan!

Through the wonders of Blogger, I ran across this blog of a girl I went to college with. While I never knew her personally, I do remember her. Anyway, she has a son who is about 4 months old and has recently been diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia. Please be in prayer for a miracle for this sweet boy! Here's her blog:

Gradumacation weekend

Sunday, May 18, 2008

I am sooooo graduationed out. It's been a long weekend! First we went to Matt's (good friend of Josh's) graduation on Thursday night. Here's a pic of Josh and Matt from that.

Then, we had Daniel's graduation. He did it! My brother graduated! A year late, but that's just because he did it the right way. I wish I'd put off adulthood an extra year too! Now he gets to join the ranks of grown-ups and get a "real job". Fun. Here are some pictures from the weekend festivities!

Daniel getting his diploma - the guy recording it was IN MY WAY!!!

Then we played Wii.. Weeeee!!! It was fun!

We played with the kittens

Then I napped with the kittens.

It was a fun weekend, but my goodness, I'm so glad it's over! I'll try to post pics from the much anticipated Old People Wedding soon! It was quite the experience!

Cinderella

Wednesday, May 14, 2008

I dare say that at some point in their lives, most girls have danced with their daddy. I know I did. Granted, my daddy dances were probably different than most (square dancing, waltzing, goof-off dancing) but nonetheless, they were still dances and I had plenty of them! I remember twirling around the floor on his arm, standing on his feet and letting him dance me around, and then there is our own special form of waltzing in which we stand in the same spot, and just move our arms around crazily. When I heard this song for the first time it actually made me cry, and for those who know me well.. I DON'T DO THAT! So, give it a listen! It's worth the time I promise!

Cinderella
Steven Curtis Chapman

She spins and she sways to whatever song plays,
Without a care in the world.
And I'm sitting here wearing, the weight of the world on my shoulders.
It's been a long day and there's still work to do,
She's pulling at me saying "Dad, I need you!
There's a ball at the castle and I've been invited and I need to practice my dancin"
"Oh please, daddy, please!"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
Cause I know something the prince never knew
Oh I will dance with Cinderella
I don't wanna miss even one song
Cuz all too soon, the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone.

She says he's a nice guy and I'd be impressed
She wants to know if I approve of her dress
She says "Dad, the prom is just one week away,
And I need to practice my dancin"
"Oh please, daddy, please!"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
Cause I know something the prince never knew
Ohh-oh ohh-oh , I will dance with Cinderella
I don't wanna miss even one song,
Cuz all too soon, the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone.

Well, she'll came home today
With a ring on her finger
Just glowin' and tellin' us all they had planned
She says, "Dad, the wedding's still six months away
And I need to practice my dancing"
"Oh please, daddy, please!"

So I will dance with Cinderella
While she is here in my arms
Cauze I know something the prince never knew
Ohh-oh ohh-oh, I will dance with Cinderella
I don't wanna miss even one song,
Cuz all too soon, the clock will strike midnight
And she'll be gone.

Um, er, uh...

Do you ever start a blog entry 5 times, 5 completely different subjects, each time deciding halfway through that you don't really want to write about that? That's me today.

Here are hints as to what I was going to write about:

Since I have no motivation, I won't write anymore than that. I will leave you with this picture which totally cracks me up:

Excitement

Monday, May 12, 2008

Two posts in one day. Don't get too excited! This won't be a regular thing! I've spent all morning/afternoon eavesdropping on VERY important meetings and calls at work and I need to do something else to get my mind off of it, so here ya go!

Things I am excited about this week:

Tonight: The season finale of The Hills. Yes, Josh and I are shamefully addicted to this smut. I'm hoping that Heidi finally ditches Spencer, but based on all the photos of them together on TMZ and People, I obviously don't think that's happens. She's too stupid for her own good. Spencer just makes my (our) blood boil. And what's funny is, he reminds us of someone we know. HA, I'm so not posting that person's name on here.. Just in case! Anyway, I'm also hoping that Audrina moves out of the house with Lauren and Lo. I like Audrina, I just think that she's not really "roommate material" and besides, it's obvious she feels left out! Poor girl! Ahhh.. can't wait for tonight!!
Thursday: A couple things.. First, Josh's friend Matt is graduating from college on Thurs night!! Hooray!! He's one of the nicest guys around. And he's totally single! So, if anyone knows of any sweet, Christian ladies, let me know and we can try to hook them up! Not that I've had much luck with that.. Poor guy.. I've tried to set him up with 3 chicks now and none of them worked out.

Second thing for Thursday - THE OFFICE FINALE!!!!!! I am so totally stoked for this, but I am also incredibly sad because it means that the season is over for the year. I'm waiting on pins and needles to see if Jim proposes to Pam. I am just so excited to see how he does it!! I'm also gunning for Angela and Dwight to get back together. They just... belong. Ya know? Speaking of Angela, the REAL Angela had her baby a couple weeks ago! YAY!! We've been watching all the extra features online where Angela goes around with her camcorder. So hilarious! If you haven't watched any of those, check them out! http://www.nbc.com/The_Office/video/#cat=25496 (click on Web Exclusives, then Adventures with Angela)

Friday morning - My little brother, Daniel, is graduating from college!! He was on the 5 year plan, but he's finally done! He's planning on taking a trip with his friend Bobby Duke afterwards. They're going to leisurely drive up to NJ and spent some time. He's talking about maybe getting a job at the Acme or something. Daniel is the only Hamilton who hasn't had a job on the island, so it's about time he did! I'm jealous of his trip. That's one of the very few regrets I have in my life! After I graduated, instead of going up there and wasting my last summer, doing whatever I wanted, I stayed home and got a job. I only did this because I was dating a stupid boy (not Josh!!) and I regret it so bad!! So my first word of advice to Daniel was GO!!!!!!!!!! So I'm incredibly happy he is! Also, his girlfriend, Emily, is graduating on Friday morning. She's going to go home to California for the summer but then she'll be back, which is awesome! She's fantastic!!! I can't wait Daniel to pop the question so they can get married ;)

Friday evening - We're finally going to be joining our church!! We've been there for over 4 years and we're still not members. The church is doing a "fast track" class for membership and we've decided to go for it. We'll be doing that on Friday evening and Saturday morning.

Saturday late afternoon - My great uncle James is getting married to the dear, sweet Ernestine. I finally got to meet her this weekend and I approve! She's very sweet! I'm excited to see them tie the knot. I've never been to an "old people" wedding so it'll be interesting. Is that tacky to say? "Old people wedding"? Ah well. it's true!

I think that's all the exciting things going on. We're going to be out and about a lot coming up. (Don't mention that to any would-be robbers! I don't want my house broken in to!) And if any would-be robbers (or pranksters) are reading this, beware... We get revenge.

Home again, Home again, Jiggity Jig

We're baaaack! Josh and I had a fantastic time down in Glen Rose this weekend at the Dulcimer Festival. We camped, listened to music, swam in the river, and just hung out with family and some friends. The highlight, I must say, was playing with my cousin's beautiful kids. Nathan is 5, Abigail is 3 and Josiah is 1. Josiah stayed with his mom and dad most of the time, but Josh and I were more than happy to play with the other two! SO.MUCH.FUN! We also got to listen to some fabulous music as well. To top it off, my brother's friend Bobby Duke (he actually lives with my parents) won first in the Texas State Dulcimer contest! Woohoo! Go Bobby! That was pretty exciting since he's only been playing for about a year or two. I will never understand how some people can just pick up an instrument and learn it right away, much less go win a contest! The only contest I am capable of winning is the Texas Liar's contest (which IS a real contest in Glen Rose and I HAVE won before!) I would've entered it this year, but I couldn't come up with any good stories/lies. Maybe next year... I need another Liar's trophy The "Anyone who wants to play get on stage" band getting ready to play for the Saturday night square dance. They were wearing the masks because sometimes the dusts gets REALLY bad during the dances. I thought they looked goofy.

My Dad (white shirt) playing with one of the bands

My dear fruzin Anna's birthday falls right around Glen Rose every year and every year, we have a birthday party for her! I can't believe she's already 12!!!! She's supposed to be 6 still. Oh my, how they grow!!
Michael and Josiah

Abigail and Nathan on the super cool tractor! (I have pictures of myself on this thing when I was their age.. goodness, I'm old!)

HA! I caught him semi-smiling! Josh is cranking up the tractor for Nathan and Abigail

Bobby Duke playing his winner's song after winning 1st place in the Texas State Dulcimer contest.

Now we're just prepping for a super busy week ahead. Aaaand... that's all. I have no important words of wisdom to pass on today.

I hab a code and I can'd breed

Friday, May 9, 2008

Yes, that says "I have a cold and I can't breathe". *sniff sniff, clear throat, sneeze, cough, repeat* That's what I sound like today. I usually get a head cold twice a year. Once around Feb - March and once in the fall. Well, I didn't get my first cold early in the spring this year so I thought I got lucky and was off the hook! WRONG. Apparently, my body thought it'd be funny to play a joke on me and wait until late spring...the weekend I am going camping.... to make me miserable! Ha. Ha. Ha. I'd laugh but I'm afraid my faucet on my face would turn into a sprinkler and water all those around me. Gross yes? Oh well.

On to other things that are floating around in my soggy head today:

1. The Office episode last night - Michael drives me nuts! I would kill my boss if he was like that. Yet, I just love him. He's hysterical. And Jim and Pam! AHHH!! Next week is the season finale, he BETTER propose to her!!

2. I wish 24 was on. I miss it. Boo on the writers strike that screwed everything up!!!

3. I want some Cheese Whiz. I don't even like Cheese Whiz, but for some reason I am craving it.

4. I need to sell some more tutus. I have a bad habit of giving away all the ones I make though because I think they're so cute and EVERY little girl deserves a tutu. I have one up for sale though if anyone is interested. I can totally customize colors and sizes too! (yes, this is a shameless plug!) http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=11351738

5. I need to go to Walmart. Should I go now? Or just go after work? Hmm... decisions decisions...

Eh, that's all I have today. My head is already on vacay because of this cold so I'm not thinking clearly. We're headed out to go camping this weekend! Even though I'm not feeling well, I'm excited to go spend time with my family and with a few friends I only see at at this festival every year. Plus, I hopefully get to hang out with my cousin's three precious kids! I'm totally stoked about that!!!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Faster than a speeding bullet....

When I was a little girl, I was in love with Superman. Seriously. He saved people all the time, could fly, had that totally awesome single curl of hair, and was just downright *sigh* amazing. My brother, Daniel, also liked Superman and loved to dress up like him, even down to wearing Superman underwear over his blue sweatpants. (I have pictures if anyone needs some blackmail). He even had a little pinstripe suit that he'd wear over his costume so he could rip it off like Clark Kent to reveal his superman costume.

I used to dress up in what I believed to be "demure office attire" and pretend to be Lois Lane. Superman was always saving me, er, I mean Lois from the perils of the lava river (Or, the floor below the couch I was standing on). The only difference in us and the REAL Clark and Lois was that when it was time for Clark to turn into Superman, Lois would have to help him get his suit off because he wasn't strong enough to do it himself. Oh and the fact that we were actually brother and sister and NOT two people who were secretly in love with each other. While that may fly in Kentucky or Arkansas, it doesn't here. In fact, I think I just threw up a little in my mouth thinking about it.

Luckily, years later, I got to marry Superman! No, not my brother, remember, I said that doesn't fly here.. I married a different Superman. His alter-ego name is Josh instead of Clark though. He's the best thing to ever happy to me! Just over three years of marriage and he's still sweeping me off my feet and rescuing me from dangers everyday! Though, the dangers are more like wasp nests in the backyard and cleaning the cat box instead of lava rivers, but rescuing me nonetheless! The only downside is that he can't pick me up and fly me off into the sunset.. which brings me to the point of this incredibly long, pointless, post...

I have forgotten how expensive airfare is these days!!! Most of you know I used to work at American Airlines. While there, I had to do my fair share of business travel, all of which was company paid of course, plus, anytime I wanted to fly for leisure, I only had to pay the taxes... so like $30 round trip was all I'd pay. Not to mention the fact that if there was an empty seat in first class, I could take that for no additional charge. LOVED IT. I also grew up getting stand-by tickets from my Nana anytime I wanted to fly so, needless to say, I got a little spoiled! I resigned from that position in June of 2006 and I don't believe Josh and I have flown anywhere since then so I hadn't thought about what a real airline ticket costs.

After a 3 year hiatus on air travel, we're planning several trips this year. The first one will be at the end of July. We're hopefully going up to Long Beach Island, NJ for a week. My dad's side of the family has a house up there on the island.. two block from the beach, two blocks from the bay. It's a little patch of heaven if I do say so myself! I've spent many a vacation up there, lived up there for an entire summer (where I had my FIRST job!) and it's also where Josh proposed to me...on the sand...overlooking the bay...at sunset...Go ahead, say "Awwww!!!" really loud. You know you want to! :)

Anyway, we haven't been up there since we got engaged because of finances and the ever popular "busy" excuse... so we're doing everything possible to get there this year(Thanks government stimulus check!!)

I've been researching flights and fares over the past few days and OH EM GEE (that's "gosh" for all you people who actually think I'd use the Lord's name in vain!!) it's WAY more expensive than I ever remember!! I'm starting to get creative with my flight planning. Luckily, we have several airports to choose from.. JFK, LGA, EWR, and PHL... All are approximately 2 hours from the shore so we're in good shape in we can just decide which one! Still, a minimum of $700 for two people to fly to NJ?! Holy cow!! I'm about to start mixing and matching airports to see where I can get the best deal. Maybe, just maybe, if I stand on one leg, rub my tummy and pat my head while inputting my searches, I'll get lucky and get a good deal. So many decisions, so little money. Or maybe I'm just a cheapskate!

I guess I'll have to tell Josh to keep practicing his flying!

French jokes

Wednesday, May 7, 2008

I love the French.. simply because they provide so many opportunities for jokes. Seriously, it's just so darn easy!

Go to www.google.com and type in French Victories. Click on the "I'm feeling lucky" button. You'll love it. Unless you're French that is.. ;)

Q: Why do French naval ships have glass bottoms?
A: To see all their other ships.

Q: How many Frenchmen does it take to defend Paris?
A: Nobody knows, it's never been tried.

Q. Why don't they have fireworks at Euro Disney?
A. Because every time they shoot them off, the French try to surrender.

Q: How many gears does a French tank have?
A: 4 reverse and 1 forward, in case the enemy attacks from the rear.

Q: How can you identify a French Infantryman?
A: Sunburned armpits.

Q. What do you call 100,000 Frenchmen with their hands up?
A. The Army.

A: What do you get if you see a Frenchman up to his neck in sand?
Q: More sand.

Q: What is the most useful thing in the French Army?
A: A rearview mirror, so they can see the war.

Donald Rumsfeld was being heckled by a French anti-war weenie when he suddenly turned and asked the Frenchman: "Excuse me. Do you speak German?" The Frenchman replied "No." Rumsfeld looked him in the eyes and said "You're welcome."

Anyone see the French Military Rifle on eBay? It's never been shot and only dropped once!

Ramblings of a simple mind

I don't really have anything exciting to post about today so far. I've spent the majority of my morning reading the Word looking for descriptions of the Antichrist. Why, you ask? Because of Barack Obama. Am I saying he IS the Antichrist? No, not necessarily. I am just reading up on it because the more and more I hear about this man, the more disturbing it seems to get. There seem to be some parallels between Obama and the Antichrist. These times are scary for us. Obama has so many people fooled. Even some of my good, strong Christian friends are being fooled by this man and it sickens me. He is a smooth talking, relatively good looking, "christian", is from Muslim descent, came from nothing, and is just downright chilling. I get an uneasy feeling every time I hear the man speak.

I never in my life thought I would say this, but I would rather have Hillary as President over Obama. Josh and I continually joke that if the Dems win the election, we're moving to Australia! :) Anyone else in? Kidding, of course, but the election this year is really frightening. We don't even have a Republican candidate I fully support. Anyway, back to Barack..

I can't put a finger on it exactly, but he just scares me. Is anyone else with me? I have no idea if I am right or wrong and wouldn't claim to be either because I cannot read the Almighty's mind, but I think it's all the more reason to study the Word and strive to be more and more firmly grounded in his Truths.

I would love to do a study on Revelation in the near future. I haven't done one since 8th grade I think so, of course, much of what I learned has been blown off in the wind. Who am I (or any of us) to even think we know the mind of God well enough to know if the end of time and return of Christ is near, but the Word tells us to ready ourselves. I figure if he told those in Biblical times to be ready, when the "end" wasn't going to happen in their lifetime, he definitely means it even moreso for us too!

So that's what's I've been up to since 7:30 am this morning when I arrived at work. With the exception of a few highly important scheduling calls and yes, one game of spider solitaire ;)

Oh and never fear, the lunch order went very smoothly yesterday and the VIPs will be dining on Jason's Deli paninis today. Extravagant, no?

So now that I have more than 2 people reading my blog, I feel the need to at least ATTEMPT to update it more often. Ready for a snoozefest? Here's my day so far:

7:30 am - Arrive at work and start checking email
7:45 am - Done checking emails and replying to important ones
7:46 am - Go to company info site and look at headlines
7:47 am - Done with that..
7:49 am - Play spider solitaire
8:15 am - cover phones for other admin while she goes and gets more coffee cups. Only one call and it was a personal call for the other admin. Visit People.com, foxnews.com, and thenest.com while waiting for her to come back
8:30am - Wondering why it's taking the other admin so long just to get coffee cups from the break room.
8:40 am- Play yet another game of spider solitaire (I'm slightly addicted if you can't tell)
8:55 am - Order someone some business cards and a cell phone.
9:00 am - Do today's jigsaw puzzle on msnbc.com
9:10 am - Save the day by calling a manager to see where the heck he is and why he's not in a meeting.
9:20 am - break down and go get a Red Bull because I am bored and tired.
9:33 am - Here I sit, updating this blog and drinking a disgusting Red Bull.

That's it so far. I think the highlight of my day will come when I get to decide what I'm ordering for lunch for a group of folks for tomorrow. YIPPEE!!!! Jason's? Chick-Fil-A? Olive Garden? Railhead? Oh the choices! What fun! I'm pretty sure the rest of my day will just be a repeat of 7:30am - 9:30am. I'm saving the world, one catering order at a time. Just another day in the life of.. dun dun dun.. SUPER ADMIN!!!!!!!!!

Let the craziness begin!

May is an insane month for me. It has been that way since the beginning of time. In fact, I don't recall a single May that wasn't ridiculously busy. Between weddings, graduations, festivals, and other random craziness, I don't know how we stay sane! Anyway, Josh and I just enjoyed our very last weekend of freedom for the month and now we're buckling up and ready to go!

This coming weekend is Mother's Day/Glen Rose festival. My dad started the festival in... 1980 or 1979 or something like that and I've gone every single year of my life so I couldn't possibly imagine NOT going. I personally think it's a lot of fun, but I may just be biased. If anyone else is going/has gone and thought it sucked.. well... you're just wrong! :) Anyway, we'll be spending the weekend camping, listening to music, swimming in the river, and just plain hanging out. I'm just looking forward to a weekend away even though we'll be surrounded by friends and family. It's also Mother's Day so we'll likely be chillin' with the mamas down there too. I love that our families live nearby.. it makes combining holidays and stuff SO much easier!

The next weekend is also busy! My brother and his wonderful girlfriend are both graduating on Friday morning from DBU so we're headed up there to watch and hopefully embarass them by yelling as they walk the stage. Yippee!! We're such trouble makers. Ok, really, there is NO way Josh will actually yell... he doesn't do embarassing stuff, but I'm sure my dad and/or my sister will happily participate with me!

Later that night, we're finally going to join our church after being there for over 4 years. I guess we're just lazy. In fact, I think my official membership is still with FBCA which I haven't attended since I was a sophomore in high school. Wow, I'm bad at this! Oh well.

THEN Saturday afternoon, we're going to my uncle's wedding. Actually he's my great uncle... and he's in his 80s.. and I didn't even know he had a "girlfriend". I asked my mom about it when I got the invitation (after going "Wait, is this MY Uncle James? Or is this another guy, with the same name, inviting us to his wedding to someone I've never heard of?" for about 20 minutes) and she told me that apparently, since his wife died a few years ago, he's been quite the ladies man. Um. Weird. He was totally devoted to my Aunt Marian, but I guess he just didn't like being alone once she was gone. Ain't no thang, it's just weird!

So that is the first part of our hectic month!

That's all the randomness I can muster up for right now.
